I've Ordered You Some Coffee

Я заказал тебе кофе

Logline

A famous musician meets a bouncer who also tries to play rock — can you make a living from music?

Synopsis

I've Ordered You Some Coffee (Я заказал тебе кофе) is a City Stories / Dirty Russian universe short: a known musician about to play a bar that evening meets the bouncer who also wants to be a musician. Their talk turns on one question — can you earn a living from music? — and on the gap between how lives are presented and how they actually are. The famous player may live off non-musical work while sounding successful; the bouncer dreams of fame while working the door. Shot in bar Zeppelin, Kharkiv (release notes: autumn cycle; Vimeo full cut upload 2011-12-10, id 33440177, 9:23). Sound: Valery Beskorsy. Cast: Kostya Chernysh (Kostet — same face later expanded in Dirty Russian and cameos in It Seems…), Sasha Gubsky, Yuri Verchenko, Yevgeny Timchenko, Oleg Borotyuk. Visuals: brick club interiors, white tank vs leather jacket across a table of mugs and ashtray, rock posters, bar counter. Vimeo title EN: “I've ordered you some coffee”; tagline on card: “How to make money with music to life.” Catalogue runtime 9 min. Linked narratively to It Seems… and Dirty Russian. IMDb not required for catalogue; primary watch is Vimeo embed.

Themes

  • Can music pay the rent?

The whole short turns on whether rock is a living or a story people tell about themselves.

  • Image vs livelihood

Famous player may hide non-musical work; bouncer hides musical ambition behind the door job — mutual performance of status.

  • Kostet origin (City Stories)

Kostet appears as bouncer/rock dreamer before Dirty Russian expands him into a lead series character.

  • Bar as confessional

Zeppelin brick, posters, table mugs — public nightlife as the only room where the question can be asked.

Characters

  • KostetLead (bouncer / musician)

    Kostya Chernysh

Works the door, wants to play rock, talks money vs music. Later the same character returns in Dirty Russian as the homecoming lead.

  • The visiting musicianLead

    Sasha Gubsky

Booked to play the bar that night; projects success while the talk tests what success actually costs.

  • Bar ensembleSupporting

Yuri Verchenko, Yevgeny Timchenko, Oleg Borotyuk — faces of the club night around the two-hander.

Scene map

  • Club entrance / brick hall

Door space, posters, smoking — bouncer territory before the table talk.

  • Table across the mugs

Two-shot: tank top vs leather jacket, ashtray and cups — the short’s core image and poster key.

  • Bar counter

Profile of the bouncer against bottles and menu glow — work identity in profile.

  • Musician close-up

Leather, stripe, smoke — the visiting player’s face as the other half of the argument.
